Executive Summary

Caremerge, a rapidly growing, VC backed start-up was looking to significantly ramp up their staff to meet the demand for its revolutionary product. Hirewell partnered with the company to strategically build out their organization, making four strategic hires within the first 45 days.  In total, Hirewell facilitated 17 key hires and helped built out multiple departments.

About the Client

Caremerge is a care coordination and communication platform that is changing the way we interact with healthcare. Caremerge is at the intersection of 5 major trends in healthcare: Aging, Healthcare IT, Cloud/Mobile, Social/Collaboration, and Big Data. Caremerge eases the communication gap between health care providers, seniors, and their families so that they can coordinate care and ensure all stakeholders are on the same page. Launched in 2012, the company has received $20M in funding, has 450 client locations and a 99% client retention rate.

The Challenges

Prior to the engagement, the local team consisted of less than 10 people. There was no HR/Talent Acquisition team in place and the sales and marketing team could not keep up with client demand. While great at customizing the software to meet its clients’ needs - implementation and training were time-consuming and the team was stretched thin.

The Solution

Hirewell launched a Managed Recruiting Program (MRP), led by a dedicated Senior Recruiting Consultant supported by a recruiting team. Working closely with Caremerge’s Executive Team, recruiting and interview processes were developed and evaluation tools were created. This enabled more of Caremerge’s employees to be involved in the interview process, driving engagement and a shared sense of responsibility and success within the start-up.

Results

Hirewell more than doubled Caremerge’s headcount by the midpoint of the engagement. Key hires included a Director of Inside Sales and a sales team to enable revenue growth, a Director of HR to ensure they retained their top talent, followed by a Product Marketing Manager and Director of Support.  A Director of Implementation to oversee the entire Client Experience department was also made a priority, as well as key positions within the product development and client experience departments. 

By the end of the engagement, 17 key employees were identified, building out their inside sales department, marketing, product, implementation team, HR and Finance departments. The positions filled included:

Executive Summary

Hirewell was retained by cleverbridge to augment their internal recruiting efforts through our Managed Recruiting Program (MRP).  cleverbridge had an immediate hiring need for multiple Customer Service Representatives, as well as other high-priority openings within IT, Sales, Account Management and Marketing. ​After accomplishing all of the original hiring goals, Hirewell’s services were extended to support ongoing needs.  From Entry-level to Director-level, Hirewell has carefully selected and hired 30 new employees for cleverbridge, adhering to the philosophies and unique culture they are striving to preserve.

About the Client

cleverbridge provides global subscription billing technology, services and expertise to leading digital goods and services companies across a variety of industries.

The Challenges

cleverbridge did not have the bandwidth to handle the staffing volume resulting from growth initiatives and newly-developed roles within the company. The newness of the roles required a thorough understanding of each department’s goals and consultation with the hiring managers to determine ideal suitability within realistic parameters. Due to the complexity of their ecommerce solution, a targeted and systematic approach was needed to identify candidates able to provide immediate contribution. The client’s progression from organic growth (internal promotion) to one requiring outside expertise and greater diversity required thoughtful outreach and candidate assessment.

The Solution

Hirewell placed a recruiter on-site to gain critical insight of their culture and to provide accessibility to hiring managers and team members. Hirewell also provided back-end support with our internal recruiting team and sourcing tools.

Results

Within the first 3 weeks of the project, Hirewell secured 5 Customer Service Representatives for the hiring initiative. Hirewell improved the hiring velocity by 37.5%​ - facilitating more hires in the first 3 months ​of engagement than the ​8 months prior. Hirewell decreased the client’s prior reliance on external placement agencies and improved the quality of hire.  Staffing key IT, Sales and Account Management hires saved the client nearly $110,000 in external agency placement fees.

Executive Summary

Hirewell was retained by Combined Insurance to create a Managed Recruitment Program (MRP) to quickly fill current openings during a major hiring push right after a major internal loss. Hirewell expand Combined Insurance’s workforce with bilingual talent to support its rapid growth in the Latino community.

Hirewell created a custom solution and filled 45 roles in 4-5 month, with an average time-to- hire of 42.75 days.

About the Client

Combined Insurance, a Chubb company, is a leading provider of supplemental accident, health and life insurance products in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

The Challenges

Combined Insurance was at a point of critical hiring with over 30 open positions in its downtown Chicago office. The openings spanned across three key departments; Claims, IT and Operations. Additionally, the client’s in-house recruiter left the company right before Hirewell engaged, eliminating the internal team at this location. Finding strong bilingual talent was paramount as Combined Insurance was heavily expanding in the Latino markets.

The Solution

Hirewell partnered with Combined Insurance to create a custom MRP joint solution that quickly and completely took over the company’s recruiting efforts. The team included three dedicated recruiters and a combination of onsite and offsite resources.

Results

45 roles were successfully filled in 5.5 months across 5 key areas; Claims, Contact Center IT, Retention and Underwriting. 41% of these 45 new hires were bilingual.

Hirewell identified 4 important IT Manager-level hires, and because Combined Insurance had traditionally used outside firms for these positions, it saved the client nearly $90,000 in external agency placement fees.

The 3 phases of 6 new hires needed per month in the Contact Center was completed on schedule. An internal quality study showed our Contact Center new hires were already outperforming tenured staff after a short time.

Executive Summary

In 2015, Hirewell was retained by the Marmon Group to manage the recruitment process for the build-out of a new 39-person IT Organization, dedicated to The Duracell Company after its acquisition of Duracell from Proctor & Gamble. A full-time, onsite Hirewell resource enabled all parties to identify issues and sprint towards resolutions collaboratively in real time. The streamlined partnership between all levels of Marmon stakeholders and Hirewell resulted in a comfortable, transparent and predictable processes for our candidates and a great recruiting and employer brand strategy for the Client.

Marmon comprises three autonomous companies consisting of 11 diverse, stand alone business sectors, and more than 150 independent manufacturing and service businesses. Duracell products power countless devices that people use every day to stay connected, protect their families and simplify their increasingly mobile lifestyles. As the world's battery company with more than $2 billion in annual sales, Duracell is a trusted household name for longer lasting, reliable power when it matters most.

The Challenges

11 months to 1) Define the recruitment process and the 2) Facilitate Organizational design 3) Hire 27/28 roles

The Solution

Hirewell had to quickly gain the trust of the new Global IT Leader of Duracell, as this resource would be the major stakeholder for the rest of the project. A full-time, onsite Hirewell recruiter was embedded into the Marmon/Duracell offices to ensure constant feedback loops and real time issue resolution. Working with the Global IT Leader, Marmon HR and Marmon Finance, Hirewell developed an organizational design, compensation structure and the recruitment and interview processes for the IT Organization including interview team assignments, strategies, offer negotiations and offer approvals through Marmon HR. Marketing collateral, job descriptions and offer cadence were developed to attract best-in- class talent to the Organization. These descriptions have been retained by Duracell for later use.

Results

27 of the 28 roles allocated to Hirewell were successfully filled with no attrition for an acceptance rate of 96.4%. For this accomplishment, Hirewell was rewarded with additional business within the Duracell Finance Organization. Hirewell secured, recruited and filled a role within the Finance group at Duracell.

The Duracell/Hirewell partnership resulted in accomplishing the goal of equipping the business with best in class IT Talent within timelines and budget constraints. Ongoing discussions continue about how Hirewell can be of assistance to the Duracell Organization in the future.

Executive Summary

Being without internal resources and recruiting experience, Leapfrog, a performance marketing solutions company, turned to Hirewell in 2014 for help with 8 hires in a short timeframe. The client was in need of a recruiting process overhaul, including needing buy-in on the importance of a seamless recruiting process from its stakeholders and hiring teams.  Hirewell created a custom Managed Recruiting Program (MRP) and 3+ years later is still retained by the client, having made 100+ hires across every functional department of the organization.  

About the Client

For two decades, Leapfrog has led the industry in best practices related to the strategic use of consumer data, understanding the consumer journey and developing effective customer acquisition strategies that deliver business results. A data-driven approach and a culture of innovation allow them to deliver game-changing, scalable results for brand marketers. Founded in 1995, Leapfrog is based in Evanston, IL, has $30M in funding and currently employs more than 190 data scientists, software and systems engineers, media planners, analysts, creative, UX and brand marketers.

The Challenges

Located twelve miles north of downtown Chicago in Evanston, IL Leapfrog was struggling to attract talent because of its location and limited brand recognition in a very competitive market. The company had neither a dedicated recruiting team nor domain expertise in-house, and its recruiting efforts were disconnected across the company.

The Solution

Hirewell built a custom MRP and placed a dedicated recruiting lead onsite to create and manage a new end-to-end process internally, guaranteeing a real-time feedback loop and issue resolution. Supported by Hirewell’s recruiting teams across all functions, the recruiting lead implemented new tools and technology for effective talent identification and vetting. A recruiting process was developed that is smooth and transparent for both Leapfrog and the candidates. Hirewell is able to quickly and efficiently identify talent, evaluate fit and transition candidates to the onboarding team.

Results

The initial 4-month engagement for 8 roles has turned into a 3+ year partnership. Hirewell continues to be retained to manage Leapfrog’s recruiting initiatives and has hired 100+ people across the entire organization.

Executive Summary

In 2014, Hirewell and 1871 came together to develop a unique program to support the hiring initiatives of 1871’s startup companies. Two senior Hirewell recruiters are onsite onsite at 1871 and offer their expertise to 1871 companies and alumni. Hirewell has partnered with over 100 of 1871’s member companies resulting in over 110+ hires, with over 50% of the hires being difficult-to-find engineering talent. Forty-eight percent of those hired met an inclusion standard in 2016 with an average salary of $72,500. Hirewell is contracted at 1871 through 2019.

About the Client

Founded in 2012, 1871 was created as a home for Chicago’s digital startup community. Since that time, it has become the hub for the city’s thriving technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem. Today, 1871 is the home of 400+ early-stage, high-growth digital startups. Located in The Merchandise Mart, this 150,000 square foot facility is also the headquarters of nationally recognized accelerators, industry-specific incubators, tech talent schools, the Illinois Science and Technology Coalition — the state’s leading technology advocate, a number of Chicago-based VCs, and satellite offices for Northwestern University, University of Illinois, University of Chicago, Loyola University Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, DeVry University, and DePaul University.

The Challenges

It is very difficult for startups to compete with larger, more established companies for top talent - especially top engineers, who are in incredibly high demand. Speed and velocity are key for startups. A custom program needed to be developed - one with the structure that could support and scale with the world-class company and the 40+ companies it houses.

The Solution

Hirewell and 1871 collaborated on the development of a unique recruiting program to support 1871’s startups in their hiring initiatives. Our recruiters sit onsite at 1871 and offer their expertise to 1871 companies and alumni. In two and a half years, Hirewell has partnered with over 100 member companies on over 150 openings. The Hirewell recruiters have also managed the internal hiring for the 1871 team, placing more than 20 1871 teammates.

Results

The combined recruiting efforts have helped startup organizations compete for top talent, resulting in 110+ hires to date, with over half of the hires have been for difficult to find engineering talent. Forty-eight percent of those hired met an inclusion standard in 2016 with an average salary of $72,500. Hirewell and 1871 have both subsidized the program to make it affordable for startups. The average cost to hire for 1871 companies has been under $2,500/hire. 

Executive Summary

Rightpoint engaged Hirewell in 2009 to assist in their growth through contingent technical recruiting. Due to early success – both for the firm’s business and in their relationship with Hirewell – Rightpoint expanded their relationship with Hirewell to one of our first Managed Recruiting Programs. Since 2009, Hirewell has helped Rightpoint hire over 80 employees. Our Managed Recruiting Program lasted nearly three years and resulted in the hiring of 3 internal HR and Talent Acquisition Resources to manage the day to day Talent Acquisition Function as Rightpoint has expanded to over 300 consultants nationwide. Our relationship continues to this day and involves multiple Hirewell service lines.
